The Concept of Liquor as Art is is not a concept that many have thought about.
Yet the products that come out of many of our craft breweries, meaderies, wineries, cideries and distilleries are crafted with the same artisan approach as any art form. Some of those artists would even argue more.
It does not take a lot of time in conversation with these craft people to see that the passion for their craft is immense, they immerse themselves in it. They push their creativity to its boundaries and constantly strive to create new and exciting works. Works, that like so much art, starts with a story.
All art starts with a story: the journey the artist has travelled, this is what shapes their artistry: it gives it personal expression and gives it self meaning. The story of an artist can be as compelling as their art.
Liquor As Art is a project to build a space that celebrates, showcases, promotes and shares this concept. And of course, tells the stories behind Liquor as Art.
It has been a concept for some time, now it is to become more.
Opening in November, Liquor as Art will be a retail space in Crookwell NSW, this will showcase the artisan work of a selected group of regional NSW and other Australian distillers and beverage artisans.
Meet the Distiller session, story telling screens and displays all play a part in showcasing Liquor as Art.
Co-habiting the space with the Ministry of Mead allows visitors to see an operational Meadery when they visit, this adds to the experience as they get to see the studio these artists work from.
